Deep Tissue Massage

Being based in central London, I tend to treat a wide variety of people and many of my clients that come for Deep Tissue Massage are office workers that spend hours sitting in front of their computer with tightness in the neck and shoulder area. This treatment can relieve the tension, help to correct your posture, give you a better quality of sleep and make you feel great again!

Deep Tissue Massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on reaching the deeper layers of muscles and tissue and is especially beneficial for tense areas. Deep tissue massage is designed to release those deep, painful muscle knots and restore muscle elasticity. It can also help to relieve many day to day problems like bad back, sprains, tension, postural issues, fatigue, lower back tightness, repetitive strain injuries, etc.

I use the Deep Tissue Massage technique to alleviate pain, muscle spasm, discomfort and stress by manipulating the soft tissue. This also releases toxins from the muscles, allowing the blood and oxygen to flow properly.

When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesions. These are fibrous bands of painful and rigid tissue in muscles, tendons, and ligaments that can cause pain, inflammation, block circulation and limit movement. Deep tissue massage is so effective as it physically breaks down adhesions to relieve pain and restore mobility.

Deep Tissue Massage strokes are applied using direct pressure with fingers, knuckles, forearms and even elbows for penetration of the deep tissue. Friction applied across the grain of the muscles irons out the knots and tension points.

During the treatment you may feel some discomfort and pain, but you must always let the me know if you are outside your pain threshold. You may also feel soreness after the massage, but this will ease the following day and leave you feeling relaxed and a lot more mobile!
